UNDER NIGHT IN-BIRTH Exe: Late[st] Prepares for North American Release

For our readers who are not familiar with FGC cult classic and fan favorite, UNDER NIGHT IN-BIRTH Exe: Late, or UNIEL, for short, you have an opportunity to finally see what all the hype is about, when UNIST, releases in just a couple of weeks.

The arcade cult hit, is getting a new version for PS4, PS3 and PS Vita, on February 9th, just in time for the 2018 fighting game season, kicking off with an unveiling at Frosty Faustings this weekend in Chicago.

UNIST, returns boasting an updated roster, as well as some rebalancing for all returning characters, for it’s newest 2D release.  Many anime fighting game fans have been waiting a while for this, while many others have already put in some time with the Japanese version, which has been available both physically and digitally on the Japanese PSN store, for some time now.

The game features a roster of over 20 characters, including all of the returning veterans, as well as 4 brand new characters, such as Enkidu, Phonon, Mika and Wagner.   The game also features a new story  mode called “Chronicle Mode” that sets the story for the characters.  The game is being released simultaneously on PS4 and PS3, with online cross-play available for fighters on both consoles.

What is probably the biggest announcement so far, for many fight stick users, is that Aksys has informed fighters that UNIST comes with Legacy Controller support, so most of the fighting sticks out there should work with the game.

I’m personally a fan of most anime 2D fighters, including UNIEL, Melty Blood, Blazblue, Arcana Hearts, and many others.  Looking forward to this new release, and hoping that we get to see it featured at some major Fighting Game events this year, such as CEO and EVO.
