Monster Hunter World x FFXIV Collab is Now Live

So I’m a day late on this, because I’m a bum, but the new collaboration between Capcom’s Monster Hunter World, and MMORPG, Final Fantasy XIV, is now LIVE!

The latest Patch update (Patch 4.36) brings the dreaded wyvern, Rathalos, from Monster Hunter, into the world of Eorzea, where players will have to take on this foe, to receive neat new in-game rewards.

Players who have reached Level 70 and have completed the Stormblood campaign, can instantly queue up for “The New King of the Block”, which is a new Great Hunt Trial to face Rathalos.  It’s an 8 player battle, with mechanics inspired by Monster Hunter World.  For those wanting an even harder challenge, there is an Extreme version, for four player teams, with a few more hurdles to overcome.

Those who are able to beat the Rathalos challenge, collect tokens which they can then redeem for various new in-game items inspired by Monster Hunter World.

  • Rathalos Armor Set – Equipment Inspired by Rathalos
  • New Minions – Poogie and Palico

  • New Mount – Ride Rathalos, the “King of the Skies,” throughout Hydaelyn

  • New Furnishings – BBQ Spit

Patch 4.36 also includes some other content, such as the next chapter in the Forbidden Lands Eureka Series: The Pagos Expedition.  Players get to explore an all new area, strengthen their weapons even further, and have the chance to obtain new in-game rewards such as minions.

Final Fantasy XIV is available for PS4 and PC.
